TRAIL DESCRIPTIONS: Wickford is a village in North Kingstown, located 20 miles south of Providence. This historic seaport is located on one of the most well-protected natural harbors on the Eastern seaboard and has one of the largest collections of 18th century dwellings in the Northeast. The fictional village of Eastwick in John Updike's novel "The Witches of Eastwick" was
modeled on Wickford.
The 10km route is comprised of both 5km loops. Village Loop sights include: historic homes, unique shops & restaurants, Hussey Bridge, Town Hall, North Kingstown Beach, Poplar Point neighborhood, and Poplar Point Lighthouse.
Historic Loop sights include: Bush Hill Nature Reserve, 13 interpretive signs
highlighting area's past, site of Washington Academy, Narragansett Rune Stone, and Old Narragansett Church.
