About us

Make new friends, enjoy nature and get a bit of exercise walking beautiful wooded areas. You definitely do not need to be accompanied by a furry friend, but well-behaved dogs are welcome on all walks.

Two walks will be scheduled every week, one in Oscar Sherer State Park and one at a different location, like Sleeping Turtles Preserve North, Red Bug Slough, Celery Fields, Myakka River State Park, Deer Prairie Creek Preserve South, Brohard Paw Park, Thaxton Scherer Preserve and Venice Myakka River Park.

If you find that you cannot attend an event for which you have rsvp'd, please be sure to change your response to "not going"......."No shows" will automatically be dropped from the group.

We will meet at the picnic table at the "front/left" of the Nature Center prior to 10:00 a.m. to introduce ourselves. At 10:00 a.m., we will leave the Nature Center, cross the bridge over South Creek and walk the green trail up to the Eagles Nest. There are two large eaglets in the nest right now and they should be getting ready to exercise their wings prior to fledging.

We will walk at a moderate pace and stop along the way to see birds. You might want to bring binoculars.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on all walks.

Entry fee is $4 for a single occupancy vehicle.

Drive 0.9 mile from the park entrance to the Visitor Center. There is a temporary white "sandwich board" at the entrance to the parking lot.
