(Meetup shows wrong time for this walk)
As of Jan. 27, the National Weather Service forecast for February 1st shows a temperature of about 45° at 10:00 a.m. with constant winds around 15 mph and gusts of 23 mph. If that forecast continues, this walk will be postponed.

As of Jan. 29, the NWS is predicting a temperature of 43° at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, with constant winds about 17 mph and gusts of 30 mph. No chance of rain, but very overcast skies. Walking in the open areas with that temperature and those very, very high winds will be unpleasant, so let's postpone this walk.

Red Bug is a gorgeous 72 acre preserve with several water views, some open areas with good birding potential, but mostly wooded trails. We will walk the trails between the entrance to the preserve on Beneva Rd., then cross Lockwood Ridge Rd. and walk the rear lot of Red Bug.

Meet before 10:00 a.m. at the end of the parking lot in front of the restrooms. I will be the person with a very sweet, black German Shepherd on a leash.

We will leave the parking lot at 10:00 a.m. sharp.

Red Bug Slough is at 5200 S. Beneva Rd., Sarasota. It is easy to miss the entrance when you are coming up from Tamiami Trail.

Hope to see you at Red Bug Slough.
