Our first Oscar Sherer walk was on the green trail to the eagles nest. Next, we took the South Creek Nature Trail. Today, we will head out to the Big Lake.

Drive to the very end of the park road which ends in a small parking lot, adjacent to the Legacy Trail. There is a pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms nearby.

We will be at the picnic tables from 9:45 to 10:00 a.m.. Walking about 200' on the Legacy Trail brings us to a gate which should be locked. It's not. We'll go down a fairly steep little hill to join the orange trail. Crossing a "suspension bridge" over South Creek, brings us to a service road along the creek (with 2 entrances to gopher tortoise tunnels). Then we'll join the yellow trail, stop at a bench and head to the viewing platform at the Big Lake.

To get back to our cars, we can either retrace our steps or return via the yellow trail.

Park entry fee is $4 for a vehicle with one person, $6 for more than one person.
