This walk was postponed from February 1st when it was extremely cold and very windy.
Red Bug is a gorgeous 72 acre preserve with several water views, some open areas with good birding potential, and mostly wooded trails. We will walk the trails between the entrance to the preserve, then cross Lockwood Ridge Rd. and walk the rear lot of Red Bug.
Meet before 9:00 a.m. at the end of the parking lot in front of the restrooms. I will have a very sweet, black German Shepherd on a leash.
We will leave the parking lot at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
Venice Audubon Society is having a bird walk here today that starts at 8:00 a.m., so we probably will meet them along the trail.
Red Bug Slough is at 5200 S. Beneva Rd., Sarasota. It is easy to miss the entrance when you are coming up from Tamiami Trail.
