Walk the Celery Fields 9:00 AM Feb.20
Details
The Celery Fields is probably the best birding location in Sarasota County, but also has miles of unpaved trails as well as sidewalks.
Before 9:00 a.m., arrive at the picnic tables next to the Sarasota Audubon Center so that we can introduce ourselves. At 9:00 a.m., we will walk through the gardens to the gazebo to see what birds are feeding at the array of bird feeders there.
We will walk trails both on the north and south sides of Palmer Boulevard and spend time at the viewing platforms on Palmer Boulevard and on Raymond Road. Hopefully, it will rain before Feb. 20 because the water in the ponds is extremely low right now. For years, I led birding walks here so they still send me the daily reports of which birds were seen at the two viewing platforms. I will save the reports from Feb. 18 and 19 so you can see what birds we MIGHT see on the 20th.
Park in the parking lot to the left of the Audubon Center and you will see restrooms at the far end of the parking lot.
There will be spotting scopes on both platforms, but you might want to bring your own binoculars.
Hope to see you on the 20th
