About us
This group is dedicated to exploring the world and socializing with people passionate about learning, seeking memorable experiences, and meeting new friends. Mostly light hiking North of Boston and in the Boston area. Occasionally will tour by other means and may include cultural activities - similar to activities of the past year in The Exploring Group.
Events are typically scheduled for weekdays and conducive for those older than 62.
New members should submit a personal photo into their profile or at minimum, submit to me.
Event rules:
- You are adults and are expected to make decisions about your own safety and physical abilities.
- Your Event Organizers are volunteers. You alone are solely responsible for your own safety and enjoyment.
- Absolutely no harassment, sexism, racism, or other hate speech will be tolerated.
- Anyone with a pattern of no-shows and late cancels may be moved to the waitlist on future events at the discretion of the organizer.
- Wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather and trail conditions.
- Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
- If you attend an event and decide to leave the group or are struggling, tell someone.
- If you are bringing a dog, maintain control of it and follow the rules of the venue.
- Be friendly. Be social. Have fun.

Carson Beach to Dorchester Heights
Carson Beach, 1390 Columbia Road, Boston, MA, USPark at Carson Beach in South Boston and walk up G Street to the newly restored Grounds and Monument. This is a few days prior to the official ceremonies of the encampment and cannons that broke the British occupation of Boston in 1776. The monument which has been closed for years is newly restored and may not yet be open to climb until the following weekend.
Evacuation Day 250 Commemoration (U.S. National Park Service)
Visitor parking is along the grassy side of Columbia Road. (the other side, near the buildings, is for Residents).
The grounds are also accesible by Red Line subway from the other side of the hill.
