40+ hike Shark River Park

This is one of my favorite parks for trail variety! The plan is to do about 5 miles on the trails at Shark River Park - at a moderate (2.5 mph) pace - goal is to finish in about 2 hours. We will cover most of the trails, including some of Rivers Edge! On this hike: Expect some flat trails - but also a number with hilly terrain - a couple of longer, steeper hills. Trails vary from dirt single track to many that allow side-by-side hiking. Plenty of trees, boardwalks, bridges, streams, some open field and longer views. Also plenty of wildlife, wild blooms, wild mushrooms - depends on the weather and season. Beautiful, peaceful woods. The trails here have a number of areas of uneven terrain and tree roots, so: Hiking boots/shoes are strongly suggested. Poles if you think you’ll need them. Things to bring: Water, bug spray, sun protection, layered clothing. We will meet in the parking area off 1101 Schoolhouse Rd, Wall. Near the Shelter Bldg(restrooms). Please arrive at least a few minutes early: To sign in, gear up, use restroom, meet others, hear safety talk. I’ll be next to my White Subaru Crosstrek, with black roof and kayak rack
