Sunday 9am hike at Cheesequake Park
Details
Cheesequake
The plan is to do 4-4.5 miles on the trails at Cheesequake - at a moderate (2-2.5 mph) pace - goal is to finish in about 2 hours. Please know your abilities. On this hike: Expect flat to rolling to hilly terrain - with a couple of longer, steeper hills- wooden walkways and stairs. Trails vary from dirt single track to some that allow side-by-side hiking. Plenty of woods, open fields and some marsh, pond and stream views. Also plenty of wildlife, wild flowers, but depends on the weather and season. These trails have a number of areas of uneven terrain and tree roots, so: Hiking boots/shoes are strongly suggested. Poles if you think you’ll need them….. - Some trails are very eroded! Things to bring: Water, bug spray, sun protection. We will MEET in the first parking area on LEFT side - off the entrance road - just a few hundred feet past gatehouse / ranger building(restrooms). Please arrive at least a few to 15 minutes early: To gear up, use restroom, meet others, hear safety talk. I’ll be next to my White Subaru Crosstrek, with black roof and kayak rack.
Note: There is overflow parking in front of the ranger building
