Join us for a refreshing Sunday morning hike through Ticknock Forest, taking in panoramic views over Dublin Bay and visiting the ancient Fairy Castle cairn — the highest point in the Dublin Mountains.
🗓 Date & Time:
Sunday — Meet at Ticknock Forest Car Park noticeboard at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. start.
🚶♂️ Route:
We’ll follow the Fairy Castle Loop (approx. 4.8 km, moderate incline). Starting in shaded forest trails, we’ll climb steadily to open hillsides with stunning views, then loop back through peaceful woodland.
⏱ Duration:
~1.5–2 hours hiking + breaks. Finish around 12:45 noon.
🚌 Public Transport:
From Blackrock — Go-Ahead Ireland Bus 114 at 9:20 a.m. (arrives Rockview ~9:52). Short 5–7 min walk to car park.
From City Centre — Dublin Bus 44 to Lamb Doyle’s, then 25–30 min walk uphill.
🚗 Parking:
Free parking at Ticknock Forest entrance (arrive early — spaces fill quickly).
🥾 What to Bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes (preferably waterproof)
- Weather-appropriate layers & light rain jacket
- Water/snack for the trail
☕ Optional Social:
After the hike, join us for coffee or lunch at Marlay Park Café or The Blue Light pub with spectacular views.
