SATURDAY MORNING five-mile walk in Bestwood Country Park

Details

A walk in the park! Might be a bit muddy in places. Meet at Moor Bridge tram stop - trams every few minutes from the city centre, the ‘threes’ buses every ten minutes from Mansfield and Hucknall and the Victoria Centre bus station. Parking available on the streets around - best not to park in the tram stop car park because that's officially just for tram users. You can park at the Forest park and ride or Ring Road park and ride and get a tram from there.

We'll head for Bestwood Lakes and then through picturesque Bestwood Village to the Country Park. We'll go past the winding engine house and we can stop at the volunteer-run café for a filter coffee and a homemade cake. Then we'll head down Park Road and into the woods. A couple of hills here but nothing too serious. We'll go past preserved heathland and out of the woods and across open land with impressive views. We'll leave the park and take the path along the old railway line back to Moor Bridge. Should be about 2.5 hours, depending on how long we're at the café.
