Join us for an eight-mile walk starting from Matlock bus interchange and climbing up past Smedley's Hydro and the former tram depot through Asker Lane Fields and the WW2 gun emplacements to reach Lumsdale Valley and the waterfalls.

We then head over to Tansley for a refreshment and toilet break before ascending to Riber and past Riber Castle before the descent to Starkholmes.

We then ascend to High Tor via Giddy Edge for the brave or by the alternative route to reach the summit of High Tor before our final ascent and descent to reach the top of Pic Tor and its war memorial.

It's then a final descent back to Matlock via St. Giles Church and Hall Leys Park to our starting point at Matlock bus interchange.

The walk is along paved paths and open fields with several ascents and descents including a few steep climbs but well worth it for the scenery and the views along with a sense of achievement for making it up the hills, valleys, and cliffs.

Starting from Matlock Station at 1045 with a large car park outside the station and regular train service from Nottingham to Matlock. The train departs from Nottingham at 0917 with a return fare of £13.

All-day parking available for £6 at Matlock Station car park where we will be starting the walk.

Tansley Gate Inn will be our rest stop for a refreshment and comfort break with a local park nearby for anybody who wishes to bring their own food and drink.
