4.5-mile walk (roughly) from Hucknall station/tram stop through Papplewick and into Moor Pond Woods. We'll meet on the bridge at the top of the steps leading down to the station and tram platforms. Thence we'll go through a housing estate and into the woods. A lot of the walk is alongside the picturesque River Leen and plenty of birdlife should be on show in the woods. On leaving the woods, we'll turn towards the attractive village of Linby (whose name apparently derives from the name of the river Leen). Then we'll cut across the Ranges, up a fairly steep hill to the top where there should be 360-degree views - if it's not foggy. If it is, then we can admire (?) the statue of the person walking a dog at the summit. Then back to the start at Hucknall station. A generally not challenging walk, apart from the hill up to the top of the Ranges. Transport to Hucknall by tram or train or the threes bus from Victoria bus station (every 20 minutes). If you're coming by car there's plenty of parking in Hucknall.
