We start at Richmond footbridge on a very flat 6 mile walk where there is free parking on a Sunday and after a short walk along the Thames we visit a few lovely houses and then we have a short stroll until we reach the Duke of Northumberland river, a small man-made unnavigable river, which we follow for a while, passing some lovely alms houses and then through a couple of parks to reach Twickenham town centre. We will be very close to Twickenham rugby stadium en-route with some excellent views and once in Twickenham town centre we will head for the Thames and at York House see a fabulous statue display and take a break for a short while.
It is here that if you wish to remain in Twickenham you can do so. It would be hard to get lost getting back to the car. At the bottom are instructions though.
Then as we go alongside the river we will get to the Orleans Gallery which is free to enter and we will be there for 15 minutes. After that, it is back to the river and to Richmond footbridge passing the site of the old Richmond Ice rink.
Ordinarily it would take 2.5 hours but with the stops and visit I have said 3 hours. However, it may take a little longer with photo stops and several interesting things to observe, so please allow a bit of extra time.
There is a pub not far from the bridge where roast is £117 TO £20 according to the website.

See some of you there I hope.

Follow the river with the Thames on your right, passing Marble Hill House and when you reach Twickenham bridge you have to bear left and when the railings end, cross the road by the crossing and you will see Willoughby Road/Ducks Walk/Thames Path in front of you. Follow this and you emerge in Ranelagh Road and the car will be waiting. You can see a map at
RAIL ACCESS
St Margarets mainline station is 10/15 minutes away and on the right side of the Thames. From Richmond Mainline and underground Station you may need to cross the Thames over Richmond road bridge and follow Willoughby Road/Ducks Walk/Thames Path to reach us as the footbridge is having lots of work done on it. This is 20 minutes walk away but you will save that time when you return. See the map above, press the arrow in the bottom right hand corner and you will then see both stations.
