I last did this about 4 years ago and it was very well received.

If you like lakes and rivers, paddocks, fields and woods, you will love this one but it is a bit further away than normal for many of you. It is about 9 miles from junction 3 of the M3 and where we start, in Wellingtonia Avenue, it is just beautiful as you see rows of giant redwood trees lining the road.

Crowthorne train station is 0.7 miles away, so just a 10 or 15 minute walk!

It is about 5.1 miles and generally flat with a couple of slopes.

Starting with a 30 minute exploration of Simons Wood where we will see our first pond, we then rejoin the car park and head for the lakes and the river Blackwater. On route a couple of exclusive roads and houses are visited and there are almost as many paddocks as houses. Very soon we hit the lakes and river for what is about half of the walk and then it is back to the car via woodlands and fields.

We will stop for a short while at Horseshoe Lake where there is a small cafe and toilets. I have put a finishing time of 1.30 but if people stay here too long we may finish a little later.
