Castle ruins, amazing views, and maybe some Meerkats!
Details
This is a fairly gentle circular walk of around 5 miles, in and around Brockham and Betchworth (near Dorking). I led this walk on 1 February - it was well received by the few people who braved the inclement conditions.
There is adequate parking on the roads that criss-cross the Green at Brockham - RH3 7JS. Let's congregate at the charming, recently restored hand pump/well https://what3words.com/cars.lands.valve.
We'll head to the ruins of Betchworth Castle which has a fabulous vantage point over the river Mole. We'll then walk through all of Betchworth Park with views of Box Hill. We'll then turn left and head back towards Brockham on a different footpath that takes us through much farmland.
We finish back at Brockham Green - The Royal Oak offers a warm welcome and reasonably priced food.
Meetup fee £4 please. Preferably no dogs.
I look forward to seeing you on 17 May. If, in the meantime, you have any queries, please add them to this thread or contact me directly on 07596 090066.
Best wishes, Tim
