Trailhead (35.98021, -114.69772) is a paved parking lot at mile marker 4 on the north side of US 93 in Arizona just past the Hoover Dam bridge. This is also the trailhead for Arizona Hotsprings, White Rock Canyon, Liberty Bell Arch, Spooky Canyon, old US93, and Horsethief Canyon. Please leave a comment if you are meeting us at the trailhead.

Description:
This will be an out and back hike down a wide gravel wash to a popular hotspring. After going under US 93 and walking about a mile there is a fork in the trail. The most direct (and easiest) way to the springs is via the Mountain Route we will be taking. Signage is better but still not perfect.

The next section features more wide wash and high canyon walls as we approach the springs. There are 2 or 3 small downclimbs that are pretty easy. Everything once we reach the springs is pretty optional as we are returning the way we came. The final approach to the hot springs is slippery watch your step.

Although we are not planning an extended visit at the springs, if you plan to walk through them, be sure to bring sandals, the gravel on the bottom of the springs is very hard on the feet. Small ants like to bite your feet here so move quickly though the 140 degree water to cooler pools. Note that there is an amoeba that lives in the hot springs that will swim up your nose and eat your brain, I would advise not putting your head underwater.

Optionally, there is a fixed ladder to get to the river. If you take a quick walk to the river bring your shoes/sandals its hard on the feet.

We will return the way we came. On the return beware of several false turns if you take the washes back, stay left.

The time of the meetup is the time we are LEAVING the carpool location (if no carpool then it is the time we are starting hike), please come on time, or chase after us frantically if you are late. Please review the planned hike if possible, be prepared for a no host event should your organizer need to drop off at the last minute. Pictures are often taken during meetups and posted on the site, if you don't want to be photographed then wear a bag over your head. If the meetup only has one person coming it may be canceled if I can’t be sure you will show up (I’ll try to contact you). Hiking time estimates are for an average size group, smaller groups go faster and larger groups slower.
