Fletcher Peak via the Wild Horse Canyon & North Loop Trails

Fletcher Peak via the Wild Horse Canyon is the most strenuous hike to which I host at the Spring Mountains. The hike offers outstanding views of Kyle Canyon, the city of Mt Charleston and prominent nearby peaks.
The trail entails a there and back of over 6.5mi with about 1900ft of elevation gain - quite strenuous for most hikers. The trails are well defined, though there’s a rather easy 5ft class 2 scramble up to the Rocky Ridge and exposer if you walk near the edge of the Rocky Ridge.

In an effort to conserve fuel we’ll Meetup near the Burger King at the Smith’s Market Place (see Pin Map). There’s a screen shot of the location of the Wildhorse Canyon parking area to help navigate to the trail head. Also, hikers who prefer to not partake of the tough Fletcher Peak portion of the hike can visit the (less strenuous) magnificent 2000yr old Rain Tree along with my wife, Penny, and await our return. I’ll post the status of the hike to attendees the day prior and the weather forecast. Lastly, please consider a small donation to Walking Las Vegas to help defray the cost of the annual dues.
