RainTree via the Trail Canyon and North Loop Trails
Details
The Raintree via the Trail Canyon Trail and the North Loop Trail is a rather tough about 5mi there and back hike with over 1600ft of elevation gain – quite an endeavor. The objective of the hike is the magnificent 3000yr old Rain Tree Bristlecone Pine, which seems to have fewer Bristlecone pine needles in recent years that hopefully doesn’t entail the tree endeared by so many is beginning the demise of its life cycle.
The trails to Raintree are well defined, and as with most of the hikes I host, there’s no exposure or scrambling. In an effort to conserve fuel we’ll MeetUp at the Smith Marketplace near the Burger King and carpool to the trailhead.
The MeetUp time is a bit earlier than usual at 8:00am due to limited parking at the trailhead, which is at the Echo Trail parking area. Dogs and kids are welcome to attend provided they’re well behaved and their owner cleans up after them. Also, I’ll email the status of the hike to attendees the day prior, which will include the weather forecast. Lastly, please consider a small donation to Walking Las Vegas to help defray the cost of the annual dues. Happy trails…
