Walking the Chicago Outerbelt Trail Foster Ave-Chicago River-Lawrence Ave

NOTE: Start time for the next few weeks is 9:00 AM
We will meet at the parking lot for the Irene C. Hernandez Family Picnic Grove 4498 W Foster Ave, Chicago, IL 60630
We head west along Foster to the North Branch of the Chicago River and head South. This will take us to Carmen and at Kimbel Ave we are at Von Steuben Metropolitan Science Center - rated a 9 out of 10 by Greatschools.org. Originally opened as a junior high in 1930, it transitioned to a high school in 1933. Designed by CPS chief architect Paul Gerhardt, the school is known for its Collegiate Gothic style, incorporating features like towers, buttresses, and decorative terra cotta.
We continue along the North Brach Chicago River trail all the way to Lawrence Ave where we head East. Continuing to Western Ave where we turn back. We will take an alternate route back using much of the trail on the east side of the river and then back on Foster Ave to the cars.
