Chgo Outerbelt Trail from 31st and Martin Luther King Dr to secret mermaid

Sorry for the delay in posting this. A little under the weather for a couple of days but, as of this writing, feeling better and should be fine by Sunday.
We meet at Olivet Baptist Church. The congregation began in 1850 with 3 members. The current building was purchased in 1907. We head east to the Chicago lakefront and head South. At 35th St we cross over DuSable Lake Shore Dr and check out the small park and statue with Stephan Douglas at the top. He ran against Abraham Lincoln in the election of 1860 and lost. His stance on slavery was very controversial.
Returning to the lakefront trail we continue south to Oakwood Beach and the Secret Mermaid - a cool story. We turn back North and continue past 31st to the McCormick Bird sanctuary and the Chicago Fire Depart Memorial.
We return to 31st St and the cars.
