Chgo Outerbelt Trail from La Rabida lot to Museum of Science & Industry
Details
We meet at the (Free) parking lot for La Rabida Children's Hospital. Heading West we pass Jackson Park Outer Harbor. Next we pass the Animal Bridge - originally built in 1904 and rebuilt in the '90's. Multiple images of animals on both sides of the bridge. Next is the 1/3 scale Statue of the Republic. The full size Statue was the center stone of the 1893 World Fair.
Next we cross Stephen's Bridge on to the Wooded Island. Here we have a good view of the Obama Presential Center still under construction. On Wooded Island there is the first public sculpture by Yoko Ono called Skylanding. Next, the entrance into the Japanese Garden which is very beautiful and calming. Next, we exit the island and walk behind and then around the front of the Museum of Science and Industry. We continue walking trails making our way back to La Rabida.
