Kia ora and a warm welcome to Walking Wonders. We are so glad you have joined our social walking community here in Christchurch. Our group is run by volunteers who love bringing people together, exploring beautiful places, and creating a friendly space where everyone feels at home.

What you can expect
• An easy and comfortable walking pace with plenty of conversation
• Friendly introductions at the start so you feel included from your very first walk
• A variety of routes through parks, rivers, coastal paths, and the Port Hills, with occasional outings beyond the city
• A welcoming mix of people. Each host brings their own flavour and culture, whether that is language, stories, favourite spots, or personal traditions. This diversity is part of what makes the group special.
• A no pressure environment. Just come along as you are.

How to get started
Visit the Events tab and RSVP to any walk that interests you
Bring comfortable shoes, water, and layers for the Canterbury weather
Arrive a few minutes early and say hello to your hosts

Simple guidelines
• Be kind, welcoming, and respectful of all abilities and cultures
• Update your RSVP if your plans change
• Look out for newcomers and help keep the group together
• Share ideas for new routes, local favourites, or things that inspire you
Support the hosts
• Offer to co host or help greet people
• Suggest new walks and hidden gems
• Share photos or stories to keep the community lively and connected
• Bring your own culture, personality, and flavour to the group. We love seeing the unique contributions everyone adds.
