Fan Llia Ridge & Roman Road Circular Walk

This scenic circular walk starts from Sarn Helen car park and quickly heads uphill onto the broad ridge of Fan Llia. The steady ascent rewards us with expansive views across the Brecon Beacons, making this a great ridge walk in good conditions.

From the ridge we continue up to the summit of Fan Llia, where we’ll stop for a well-earned lunch break and take time to enjoy the open mountain landscape.

After lunch, the route descends steeply, zig-zagging down into the valley between Fan Llia and Fan Bwlch Chwyth. Care is needed on this section, especially if the ground is wet. Once in the valley, we join the ancient Roman road (Sarn Helen), following its unmistakable line as it gently winds back up and out of the valley.

The final stretch follows this historic route back towards the car park, completing a varied and rewarding walk that combines ridge walking, mountain views, and a touch of history.
