Join us for another adventure through the ancient woodlands of Wentwood, starting from Cadira Beeches car park. From the very beginning, we’ll descend through peaceful forest tracks towards the quiet waters of Wentwood Reservoir, surrounded by towering trees and hidden woodland scenery.

After reaching the reservoir, the route turns more challenging with a sharp climb up towards the summit of Gray Hill, rewarding us with a real sense of achievement and, weather permitting, some fantastic views across the surrounding countryside. Gray Hill is also steeped in history, and along the route there may be a few fascinating historical landmarks to discover, adding an extra layer of interest to the walk.

From the summit, we’ll continue along a long stretch of woodland paths, winding through one of the largest ancient woodlands in Wales before eventually looping back to the car park.

Expect a mixture of forest trails, steady inclines, one tougher ascent, and plenty of beautiful woodland atmosphere throughout.

We will stopping off at a local pub after the walk for some refreshments and a spot of Sunday lunch, we will sort the details of this closer to the date when we have numbers.

Kit Recommendations

As the weather is so unpredictable we recommend bringing waterproof jacket/trousers, waterproof hiking boots/shoes with good tred, set of hiking poles, multiple layers of warm clothing with a summery base layer, hat, gloves, scarf also enough snacks and drinks to last the walk
