Wouldn’t you like to jazz with The Paul Wiliamson Quartet?

Details

Our very first meetup, ladies and gentlemen and what’s in between 🥂

Note that RSPV is required as seats are LIMITED, unfortunately; booking a table for the group is needed, thus I would like you to, kindly, make a decent decision to give others the chance they deserve to attend if you were not.

Be advised that the event starts at 8:30pm; arrive before that time if you wouldn’t like to miss out.

Contact me if lost, otherwise ask the bartenders where the table for WALTZ meetup is located, or just get in and I will be able to spot any confused face~

About our event: pasted from Uptown Jazz website (you can perhaps find out more about it online in the link beneath this passage):

“The Paul Wiliamson Quartet:

One of Melbourne's most beautiful trumpet players Paul Williamson leads an all-star group, playing swinging standards and beautiful ballads with a distinct, mellow trumpet sound.

Paul has established a reputation for producing distinctive recordings of outstanding ensemble performances. Williamson is the leading artist on ten commercially released CD releases.

Williamson has performed with international jazz artists at festivals and venues in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He was active in the European jazz scene whilst based in Dublin and performed with Bill Carothers, Dave Liebman, Reggie Washington, Paul Wertico, Ronan Guilfoyle, Lindsay Horner, Michael Buckley ad Métier before returning to Melbourne in 2009. His recent performances include collaborations with Eddie Palmieri, Tomasz StaÅ„ko, Charlie Haden, Kenny Werner, John Abercrombie, the Australian Art Orchestra, Hermeto Pascoal, Aaron Goldberg, Django Bates, Mike Nock, Tony Gould, Nasheet Waits, Mark Helias, and the Monash Art Ensemble. In 2014 Williamson was invited by Dave Douglas to perform at the Festival for New Trumpet Music (FONT) in New York City where he premiered a program of new compositions.
In addition to having a successful recording and performance career, Williamson is a faculty member and the Jazz and Honours coordinator at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University.

Segue-ing between steaming, swinging standards and lyrical ballads, the quartet stretch the limit of interplay with a fresh modern take on some classic tunes....

Paul Williamson - trumpet
Joe O’Connor - piano
Ben Hanlon - double bass
Miles Henry - drums

$25 at the door, and $20 concession.

2 sets from 8.30pm”

About Uptown Jazz Café:
“Walk up the unassuming stairs under the neon 'Uptown Jazz Cafe' sign and you'll find this trendy little jazz bar that boasts live music four nights a week. As if this place wasn't quirky enough, it's perched above a Japanese restaurant so if you're feeling peckish why not try some Tokyo-inspired teriyaki with your trumpet.

Don't think it's all a mish-mash, though, these guys take jazz seriously and are always up from some old-school improv. The only thing that's missing are the beret-wearing beatniks and a smoky cigarette haze.”
