🎨 What is Shawan Piaose?
Shawan Piaose is a traditional folk parade with hundreds of years of history in the Lingnan (Cantonese) region.
The most fascinating feature is that performers — often children — appear to be "floating in mid-air". They are dressed as:
• Historical figures
• Mythological characters
• Characters from Chinese folk stories
Using cleverly hidden supports, each group forms a "moving "floating stage" that travels through the streets. It’s visually impressive, culturally rich, and something rarely seen outside southern China.
