Wednesday 30th April 2025 6.30pm. Appledore – Grey Sands Summer Evening Walk.

A picturesque waterside walk from Appledore to Grey Sands at the north end of Northam Burrows, and the mouth of the Taw-Torridge estuary, where the pebble ridge surrounds a rare wildlife site of grassy coastal plain fronted by salt marsh and sand dunes. Walking from Appledore through the pretty village streets to join the southwest coast path and then across Northam Burrows to Grey Sands around the estuary headland. Then walking up Broad Lane climbing to enjoy far reaching estuary views and taking a foot path to re-join the coast path at Appledore Lifeboat Station.

Meet at the Appledore Churchfields Car Park at 6.30pm.

Terrain: Public footpaths, coast path and tarmac road. Fairly even underfoot, with a few wet and muddy patches in damp weather. Stiles and steps on coast path. Some stretches of ascent/ descent. Livestock on Northam Burrows.
Toilets: Appledore Churchfields car park.
Parking: Appledore Churchfields car park (free after 6pm)
