Saturday 21st February 2026 10am Bideford – Chudleigh Fort – Iron Bridge
A walk combining a short ascent to Chudleigh Fort and then along the Tarka Trail following the river Torridge from Bideford to the Iron Bridge. Starting at Bideford Station and climbing along lanes to reach Chudleigh Fort, then descending to reach the Tarka Trail walking to the Iron Bridge and then looping back to return to Bideford. Option to stay for coffee at Otters Coffee Shop on Bideford Quay at the end of the walk.

Meet at Bideford Station/Railway Heritage Centre on the Tarka Trail at 10am.

Distance: 3.7 miles (6km)
Route type: Out & back. Chudleigh Fort section circular.
Grade: Easy to moderate.
Terrain: Tarmac lanes and Tarka Trail walk and cycle path. Mainly tarmac and even surface. Short section of ascent to climb to Chudleigh Fort. Steps.
Toilets: Bideford Quay a short detour from walk route.
Parking: Various parking options in Bideford, please check individual charges and restrictions.
