Wanderful DC Day Trip: Annapolis
Join Wanderful DC for our first day trip to Annapolis! We will start the day at the Festa di Santa Madre Cabrini. This Italian festival offers delicious Italian foods, live mozzarella and limoncello demonstrations, music, face painting and more! Once we've had our fill of Italy, we'll make our way to the historic streets of Annapolis and visit the William Paca House and Garden (there is a small fee to get in). Who was William Paca? Paca was a signatory of the Declaration of Independence and a three-term Governor of Maryland. His restored mansion is recognized as one of the finest homes in the country and is a National Historic Landmark. Care has also been given to the estate's gardens to restore them to their original splendor. The last leg of our day will be the Maritime Museum's free walking tour of Eastport. From the museum's website: "“The Homefront: Eastport during World War II— A Walking Tour.” The tour, which has 10 stops, is powered by GPS, so the locations can be viewed in any order. The locations include informative narrations and historic photos of Eastport in the 1940s. Participants will learn about the naval depot that built Vosper PT boats, Pearl Harbor’s impact in Annapolis, women’s work in war industries, and the war’s effects on everyday life in Eastport."
