LOFOTEN / NORWAY - Fjords, Hiking & The Midnight Sun

LOFOTEN / NORWAY, 21 - 25 JULY 2022

We are arranging our 4th trip to the Lofoten archipelago this summer, so save the date and come join us for when we travel to the land of the Vikings to see the midnight sun, hike the spectacular mountains with views over the fjords, kayak between picturesque islands, visit the Viking Museum and road-trip to villages and white sandy beaches off the beaten track. Every outing in this region is framed by rugged mountain tops that rise straight from the sea.

• Cost: GBP 590 per person in a shared fisherman´s cabin (rorbu)

We have managed to secure a few beds at a wonderful, traditional fisherman's lodge where we will be staying in real fishermen´s cabins (´rorbu´) right down by the pier, overlooking the majestic Lofoten mountains. This lodge is located in Ballstad, the central part of Lofoten, which has the most dramatic scenery. The fisherman´s lodges come with a private kitchen so that we can cook our own food.

Sleeping arrangements will be determined closer to the time and will be based on rsvp numbers, but every Rorbu has a private kitchen, bathroom and 2-4 bedrooms.

INCLUDED

• 4 nights accommodation in a "rorbu", a real fisherman's cabin
• All transportation on the island + to/from Harstad/Narvik airport
• Guided 3 hour kayak trip with professional kayak instructor, all equipment will be provided + hot drinks and snack. (You can opt out)
• Guided hikes (a good level of fitness is needed).
• Road trip and guided sightseeing, visiting the charming villages of Henningsvær, Reine and Å; the southernmost point on mainland Lofoten.
• Private, guided tour at the Viking Museum
• Roadtrip to the famous Haukland Beach, with its crystal clear water and white sands

The price does not include:
Meals are not included - to keep costs down we will be sharing food expenses and prepare most of our meals at the accommodation, with the exception of two (2) meals in a restaurant.
Flight tickets - approx GBP 200+/- roundtrip Oslo - Harstad/Narvik (EVE). Tickets London - Oslo are many and varies in price.

On this trip we will also get to know Lofoten’s colorful fishing villages with the characteristic “rorbuer” (of which we will be staying in one), local handicrafts, food, and rich history that dates back to the Vikings.

The exact program for this lovely long-weekend will be planned closer to the time, with some of the activites being weather dependent. If you choose not to participate in the kayak trip, the fee of approx GBP 70 will be deducted from your total price.

ONLY PAYMENT WILL SECURE YOUR BED. All trip payments are
non-refundable and non-transferable, however you might try and sell your space to another member if you find that you are unable to attend. Please let me know in that case so that I can try and help you.

REMEMBER TO PURCHASE SEPARATE TRAVEL INSURANCE. Make sure it cover your costs in case you get sick and/or unable to attend for medical reasons.
