Søndagstur / Sunday hike with the finest views in Lillomarka!

Details

You´ve probably felt the temperature drop this week, and the best way to overcome the cold-weather-blues is to get out in nature with a great bunch of people and enjoy some stunning scenery. Join us for a hike this coming Sunday, which by the way, is looking promising in terms of blue skies and sunshine!

This Sunday hike will take us on a linear route through the north-west side of Lillomarka, where we will have some great views from Barlindåsen peak.

  • Cost: 125 NOK payable via Vipps or SumUp
  • Start point: Snippen Train Station with the 10.03am train arrival
  • End point: Kjelsås
  • Total walking distance: 10 kilometer
  • Difficulty level: Intermediate
  • What to bring: Rucksack, hiking boots, waterproofs, drinking water, lunch pack, insulated sit mat called "sitteunderlag" in Norwegian.

Our starting point is easily accessible by train from for example Oslo sentral station, Tøyen, Grefsen, Nydalen and Kjelsås. Remember to check the Ruter Travel Planner on the day of travel. I will be taking the train from Grefsen at 09.52, but it also departs from Oslo S at 09.44. Keep in mind that if you miss the train you won´t be able to join the hike.

Our journey starts from Snippen Train station when our train arrives at 10.03. From here we will be crossing through Maridalen in the north before entering Lillomarka in the south, on this linear route from Snippen to Kjelsås. This wooded area on the east side of Maridalsvannet is home to Barlindåsen, a peak with some of the finest views in Lillomarka with its 407 meters above the sea. From here you can see the city and Maridalsvannet in the south, and Maridalsalpene and the Kikut peak in the north.

Once we arrive in Kjelsås you are able to take either the train, tram or bus back home. This hike will therefore start and end in two different locations.

Halfway through the hike we´ll make a short lunch-stop where we will sit down and enjoy the views and our lunch too - remember to bring a sit mat.

Good, strong and waterproof shoes should be worn. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on what to bring/ wear and I will gladly assist.

Payment: NOK 125 via Vipps to 689904 / Wanderlust Walks. Drop me a message if you don´t have Vipps and I´ll send a payment link.
(Meetup don't have NOK in its currency list, but the fee is obviously in Norwegian Kroner and not GBP).

This hike is graded as intermediate as we will be walking up and down some steep hills inside the woods, and on a combination of wide trails, and forest paths. Good, strong and waterproof shoes need to be worn. The walk should finish around 14.00 however the time may be slightly earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace.

You can plan your journey using Ruter Travel Planner or send me a message if you need any further help.

Please make sure to arrive on time as the group unfortunately cannot wait for anyone who is late.

****************************
Wanderlust Walks is a supportive and diverse community of both international members as well as locals, where everyone is welcome to join our hikes as long as it suits your physical abilities. Well-being and social togetherness is at the forefront of what we do, and we will always make time for conversations, photography and to observe nature and wildlife, and to keep a pace which allows for everyone to walk together.

We are mainly speaking English, but I gladly speak Norwegian with those who prefer to do so.

Hope to see you for a lovely Sunday hike!
