Exploring Cherry Springs (Pilot Trip)

🌌 Hello Star Seekers!
I’m thrilled to invite you to a truly special experience—our second meetup, and one that promises to be unforgettable!
This adventure is a "pilot" overnight trip to the legendary Cherry Springs State Park—a place that’s often called the last true dark sky sanctuary in the northeastern U.S. It’s one of the few remaining spots where the Milky Way still dances across the night sky, free from the grip of city lights. And guess what? This will be my very first overnight wilderness stargazing trip, and I couldn't be more excited (and a little nervous)!
I’m heading out not only to soak in the cosmic beauty, but also to explore, photograph, and understand the area—so I can craft even better, more magical meetups in the future. Think of this as a test flight into the cosmos—and you’re welcome to join the crew.

🌙 Why now?
This weekend, the moon will be nearly absent, giving us the best chance to witness stars, planets, satellites—and yes, even the ethereal Milky Way—with our naked eyes. I’ve just picked up a pair of binoculars to get an even closer look at the wonders above!

📅 Plan:
I’ll be heading out on Saturday, May 31st in the afternoon to grab a good spot for the night. I’ll be bringing along essentials—food, water, camera gear, drone, GoPro, and binoculars—to document the night and make the most of this epic stargazing opportunity.
