Our First Meetup: Walk Central Park End-to-End
Details
Welcome to our new group! For our very first Meetup, let's take a walk through Central Park, end to end.
ABOUT CENTRAL PARK: One of New York City's most celebrated attractions, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux between 1858 and 1873, the 843-acre park is an urban oasis of trees, gardens, rolling meadows, arches, sculptures, statues and vistas. The park is bordered on the north by Central Park North (110th Street) and the neighborhood of Harlem; on the south by Central Park South (59th Street) and Midtown Manhattan; on the west by Central Park West (Eighth Avenue) and the Upper West Side; and on the east by Fifth Avenue and the Upper East Side. It measures 2.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide with a total perimeter of about 6 miles.
Getting There: Make your own way to the Central Park North (110th St) station on the 2/3 train by 11AM. We'll meet OUTSIDE the station and we'll walk over to the park together
Agenda: From 110th Street, we will then make our way through the park heading SOUTH. Walk will be LEISURELY with plenty of zigs and zags through the park with stops for PHOTOS. Walk will end at 59th Street and Columbus Circle, by the Columbus statue.
Pace: LEISURELY AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND. PLEASE, NO SPEED DEMONS!!!!
Duration: I cannot guarantee finishing time but you can leave on your own at any time. We won't judge. Much.
