About Governors Island: https://www.govisland.com/
A former military base turned into a beautiful park with sweeping views of the city skyline and Statue of Liberty, Governors Island is a 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. It’s only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. Then walk over to the Governor's Island ferry terminal building to take the 10:30AM ferry. NOTEWORTHY: Ferries are FREE on Saturdays and Sundays before 11AM.

The island is only accessible by ferry from Manhattan or from Brooklyn.
