We are excited to announce the launch of Warks.Dev, a brand-new community and event space for developers from any background in the Warwickshire area. Our event will run quarterly, providing a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow developers, enjoy insightful talks, and engage in networking.

Event Highlights:

🕒 Event Schedule:
6:30 PM - 7:15 PM: Arrival and Networking with Drinks
Kick off the evening by mingling with fellow attendees over drinks. This is a great time to socialize and make new connections.

7:15 PM - 7:45 PM: Featured Talk by Ken Corey
"The Right Turn: A funny thing happened on the way to work…"

Most people will eventually get promoted. When thinking about that, it's natural to wonder, "How do I progress in my career?" or "Technical or Managerial track, and what do those mean?" This talk explores the career choices engineers face as they move up the ladder. Whether to stay technical or head towards management. And how to be intentional about your career.

7:45 PM - 8:15 PM: Group Discussion with Neil Puttick
"Can you really be a Full Stack Dev?"

Controlling every part of your project can be seriously powerful but is it possible to do everything yourself as a developer…and do you want to!? Whatever your stack, through a group discussion, we aim to find out what “full stack” actually means and share the tools and strategies we can use. Are you an all-rounder or a super specialist? Are you a solo player or part of a team, or somewhere in between? Do you feel you have to create every part of an application or can you share, outsource or automate? As well as exploring best practices, what can we learn from our experiences and how other people work that can help us in what we do?

8:15 PM - 8:35 PM: Break and Pizza
Take a short break, enjoy some delicious pizza, and continue networking.

### Meet the Speakers

Ken Corey
Ken Corey is an experienced Engineering Leader known for driving innovative solutions, most recently as a Senior Engineering Manager at Curve. With over thirty years in the industry, Ken has been instrumental in building high-performing teams, managing complex projects, and promoting advanced engineering practices in both startups and large enterprises. His leadership is centered around supporting and developing his people.

Neil Puttick
Neil Puttick is a web developer mainly working with NextJS…although really he uses whatever it takes to ship to production! New to Leamington, he loves bringing technical people together to solve a shared problem: previously running tech meetups, hackathons, and maker spaces. He’s the CTO at Lyberate, an AI-powered marketing platform. Neil is also interested in how tech breaks out of founder/corporate bubbles to create new opportunities and has been making apps that help low-paid workers, renters, and benefits claimants.
