“Meet new books through people, meet new people through books”

WASABI’s book club events are kicking off !

In this busy modern life, people could easily procrastinate on reading books…like I do ! So why not make an excuse to start reading books by having a get-together.

Grab your book and have a get-together. Share your book with others and meet new people and books, while getting intellectually spiced up !

【Event Flow】
5:30pm-6:10pm：Reading books in silence
6:10pm-6:30pm：Share your books / chatting
6:30pm-7:10pm：Reading books in silence
7:10pm-7:30pm：Share your books / chatting

【Location】
Flamingo Cafe 999 Granville St, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1L3

【Time】
November 5th , from 5:30PM to 7:30 PM

*your arrival does not have to be on time, late comers are welcome !

【Participation Fee】
FREE

【IMPORTANT】
1. Please order at least 1 item in the cafe
2. During the reading time (Quiet Time), please do not disturb others.

【Q&A】
1.Should the books be in Japanese ?
→Any language is ok !

2. Can I read comics ?
→Absolutely ! Comics count.

3.Are electronic books like Kindle or on computer allowed ?
→100% yes !

4. Do I have to share my books ?
It is recommended but it is not compulsory if you feel uncomfortable. It is said output right after input helps your learning, so it is an opportunity to do this though…!

5.Can I join the event without bringing books ?
Partially yes. The hosts can bring some books, but these books tend to be written in Japanese…

WASABIの読書イベントにようこそ！

本を通して人と出会う、人を通して本と出会う。

そんなレインクーバーだったら、きっと楽しい！

それに、本を持っているけど読むのが後回しになっていたりしませんか？何かと忙しいこの現代社会...イベントとして読書をすれば、読みたかったけど読めなかった本が読めるはず。

そんなわけで、読書クラブイベントを始めてみることにしました！

本を持参して読んでみましょう。みんなで黙々と読書する時間の後、本をシェアする時間を取ってみました。人生を変えるかもしれない１冊に出会えたのなら、留学・ワーホリの１つの大きな成果だと思っています。

【イベントの流れ】
5:30pm-6:10pm：黙々と本を読む時間
6:10pm-6:30pm：本の紹介 / お話タイム
6:30pm-7:10pm：黙々と本を読む時間
7:10pm-7:30pm：本の紹介 / お話タイム

【参加費】

【お願い】
1.カフェで必ずなにか１品は注文してください。

2.読書タイムの間、他の人の注意を削がないようお願い申し上げます。

【Q&A】
1.本は日本語じゃないとだめでしょうか？？
→何語の本でも大丈夫です！

2. 漫画でも良いでしょうか？
→もちろんです！漫画だって立派な本です！

3.電子書籍やパソコンで読んでも大丈夫ですか？
→大丈夫です！

4.本は必ずシェアしなければなりませんか？
おすすめですが、シェアしなくても大丈夫です。決して強制ではないのでご安心くださいね。学んだ内容をその場でアウトプットすると定着すると言われているので、アウトプットの機会ではあります。

5.手ぶらで参加してもよいでしょうか？
主催者がランダムで日本語の本を数冊持っていくので、何を読んだらわからない方でも参加可能です。運に任せてみるのも良いかも知れない...!?
