At WASABI, we create a friendly and supportive space where everyone helps each other🤝.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Making Community
Learning a new language can be scary — but you don’t have to do it alone. 😌 Let’s motivate each other to improve our language abilities and achieve our goals.

📙Learning support
Each table gets a worksheet with a topic to help guide the conversation productively. 📝

The worksheets are designed to allow you to develop your abilities no matter your current level, and they are made to prepare you for the type of self-expression that is evaluated at French exams. 💡

Beginners might focus on learning key vocabulary and making basic sentences, while more advanced learners can challenge themselves to make conversation with more nuanced opinions 💬✨

【Organizer Profile — Valentin】
My name is Val, and I work as a French teacher at UBC. I was born in Paris, France, and spent most of my life there before deciding to study Mandarin in China.
I’d love to help more people achieve their immigration dreams by preparing for French immigration exams. French can be a challenging language, but with the right guidance and some discipline, many people can obtain that precious ticket to a new life in Canada!

【Organizer Profile — Tomas】
Hi, I’m Tomas from Colombia! I’m learning French to help my PR application, and I’m looking to present the TEF sometime in the first half of 2027. I would like to encourage more people who are in a similar situation to come so we can motivate each other and keep learning every week! I also speak Spanish and Japanese.

💰Participation Fee
Free for the first iteration of the event

Free for native French language speakers

(Will become paid in the future as the organizer has teaching experience and tailors French learning content every week)

🌞Overall
This event is perfect if you have a goal to improve your French, no matter your background. French speakers who enjoy language learning and would like to participate in the community by putting their French to use are also very welcome.
