2025 Canyoneering Rendezvous in Capitol Reef!!!

Details
DETAILS ARE DIFFERENT FROM YEARS PAST! PLEASE ENDURE THE LENGTH OF THIS POST! THANKS!
We have added a day to the event! The first round of sign-ups will be for those that will attend all days. We are looking for 60 people. The second round will be for those that can't attend every day, about 20. The RSVP list will be cleared before the second round starts. (If you sign up in the first round and don't attend all of the days, the canyon gods may frown upon you!!)
EVERY person that wants to go needs their own Meetup profile, with a picture AND YOUR NOTIFICATIONS NEED TO BE TURNED ON. Meetup accounts are approved by the club and requests to join the WMC Meetup take time to approve. Also, you must be a member of the WMC BEFORE SIGNING UP, sign up here https://www.wasatchmountainclub.org/join. At some point, your membership will be confirmed. No plus 1s. There may be unique circumstances that don’t require the WMC membership. Contact Shane for exceptions to membership.
This is where everything related to the rendezvous will be posted! Make sure your notifications are on until the rendezvous is over. The fee covers shirts, gear used, webbing, quicklinks, rope use, fuel for leaders and RAFFLE STUFF!! 100% is spent on this rendezvous. The shirts are still being worked on so we will need to get the order for sizing later.
- When the event opens, Click on ATTEND.
- If you make the going list, you need to send the $95 fee within 48 hours of making the list to avoid being deleted. Venmo is easiest. Shane-Wallace-19 and last 4 are 6372.

**New this year-there will be no refunds with VERY limited exceptions! Also, you must attend to receive your shirt. Please avoid cancelling at all costs.
We will be at Sand Creek in Torrey, UT and only 12 miles from the Capitol Reef Visitors Center. A group tent site is available. There are cabins and RV sites available as well. Showers will be available along with bathrooms, etc. The cost is $95 dollars for the event, per person, in addition to the camping that you will cover on your own. Spaces are limited to approximately 40 tents. Please keep your tent size to a minimum and maximize the space. Most will arrive on Wednesday night and stay until Sunday.
You are responsible for all food, camping gear, fees and canyoneering gear including harness, helmet, descender, ropes, safety tether, locking carabiners, closed toe shoes minimum, wetsuits, etc. Hiking at a reasonable pace is required. Elbow pads and knee pads standard equipment.
The annual Swedish Crepe Potluck tradition will continue this year!!! The Perfect Potluck is provided above so you can sign up for an item to bring. Please choose your items when you sign up for the rondy. Dana and I will make the crepes! Also, don't forget the annual raffle where all attendees can win some really fabulous canyoneering gear and stuff!
The Wednesday start time implies that you should arrive Wednesday night if you want to run a canyon on Thursday. THERE ARE ALWAYS PEOPLE ON THE WAITLIST. ATTENDANCE OF ALL 4 DAYS IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED! There will be canyons to descend all 4 days. Sunday canyons will be short canyons so people can get on the road. At the latest, you should be ready to leave camp by 8:00 am each morning and prepared as needed for the canyon you will descend that day. Some departure times will be earlier. Each member will sign up for canyons the night before or early in the morning before the group leaves. There is a pavilion that will be our hub.
You can coordinate with the people in this group and arrange carpools, camping arrangements, among other things. Don't be deceived by the length of the canyon. Some locations will require shuttles or drives that will make many canyons a full day. Bring your wetsuit!
BONUS: THURSDAY, Shane will provide a full day of training for anyone that wants to learn the basics of canyoneering and then put it to use. I need to know if anyone is interested prior to the event.
