Specific Hike Detail:
Hike Grandeur Peak From Church Fork in Millcreek Canyon

Grandeur Peak East Trail from Church Fork is a 5.9 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Salt Lake City, Utah that features a waterfall and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

Length 5.9 mi
Elevation gain 2,365 ft

The Grandeur Peak East Trail from Church Fork trailhead starts at the end of the Church Fork picnic area’s road. If the picnic area is closed, users are invited to park outside and walk along the picnic area road till the end to the start of the trailhead which will add approximately 0.2 miles each way to the route.

While this is a great route for any time of day and any season, users cannot recommend this peak enough for a sunrise hike! It is best to start right at sunrise, and spend about 90 minutes ascending to the summit if moving fast. There is plenty of shade on the first half of the route, with the higher parts of the trail being less shaded due to smaller trees and shrubs as the route approaches the tree line. There are some gently sloping parts, with some steep parts and some rocky areas closer to the top, which is a perfect example of what the rocky mountains bring to users. Once at the summit or higher up, the gorgeous views all the way up will make users smile with delight - especially above the treeline and incredible place to watch the sunrise along the peak trail.

Dogs are allowed off-leash on odd-numbered days, must be leashed on even-numbered days.

There is a $5 fee per car to enter this canyon (toll booth located a few miles from the trail head). It is paid as users leave.

Meet where posted. Pin has been set for particulate spot.
Check comments for snow predictions. Some hikes make it questionable if it should be put in the snowshoe series.
Please check comments for more detail.

Help Wanted!

  1. Participation: I can post and participate. I can even lead us on trails. However, I don't know the trails like many of you. I can do my best to lead to a particular area, however, it may not be perfect. I know I can keep a group safe and get them back to the cars. However, maybe some of you can help guild us so we hike where we intend?
  2. It would be great if some of you would become organizers and help lead some of these hikes. I only know so many hikes (and they are limited too). I mostly followed the group when it came to winter hikes. I would love to follow you. I am willing to help in any way!
