Sunday Skate: Out MBT / Back Rock Creek
Join us this Sunday for a classic loop through DC! Ian will be leading the way on a scenic 22-mile route that blends city streets with some of the best paved trail riding the area has to offer.
The Route We’ll start from the newly reopened Freedom Plaza, heading east down E Street past Union Station to connect with the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT). We’ll follow the trail north all the way to Aspen Street, then make our way across town along Aspen and Luzon Avenue before dropping down Joyce Road into Rock Creek Park.
For those wanting a little extra distance, there is an optional 4-mile out-and-back up to Wise Road—otherwise, you can take a breather and regroup with everyone when we loop back. From there, we cruise south on the Rock Creek Trail under the trees all the way down to the Kennedy Center. To finish things off, we’ll head east on G Street, skate past the White House, and wrap up back where we started at Freedom Plaza.

Meeting Location: The newly reopened Freedom Plaza Southwest corner under the trees (near Pennsylvania Ave NW & 14th St NW)

⚠️ Location & Staging Notice:
Due to recent requests from Park Police and security to keep the newly renovated plaza clear, please do not skate or congregate on the open plaza surface. -
For now, look for the group gathered under the trees on the southwest corner along Pennsylvania Ave. This is likely a temporary arrangement while the dust settles on the renovation, but respecting the space keeps us in good standing with park staff. Thanks for cooperating and helping us keep rolling smoothly!

Safety & General Info
- Helmets and wrist guards are strongly encouraged.
- Bring plenty of water and hydration.
- Skaters should be comfortable navigating city streets, active traffic intersections, and paved multi-use trail descents.
