Old Rag is easily one of the best hikes on the east coast and definitely one of my favorite day hikes near DC. This trail has everything — rock scrambles, switchbacks, challenging climbs, false summits, and some of the most rewarding views in Shenandoah National Park. If you’ve never done Old Rag before, this is the perfect chance.

We’ll be hiking the full Old Rag loop on Sunday, May 17. Expect a strenuous but super fun day outdoors with great people and incredible scenery.

After the hike, we can stop for food/drinks nearby before heading back.

We’ll meet at Balaton Metro Station at 9:00 AM and carpool to the trailhead. Drive time is around 1 hour 45 minutes. If you’re willing to drive, please comment below — carpooling makes the trip easier and more fun for everyone.
