It is always exciting to find a new habitat with plenty of butterflies. David James came across such excitement last week in the form of a flowery mid-elevation forest road running parallel to a creek in the Teanaway Community Forest near Cle Elum. He saw more than twenty species including 5 Fritillaries and an exceptional abundance of Lorquin's Admirals and Great Arctics. The road is closed to traffic and gently winds uphill with some roadside meadows.
