Printing Your Photo master class

This is a paid workshop, please don't RSVP until you have registered at https://lorenphotos.com/product/printing-your-photo/

When you get that killer shot that deserves to go on the wall you want to make sure you bring everything out of the print that you can. High end print professionals go beyond global adjustments and work on fine details that can be subtle but will make the ultimate print shine.

This is a master class where you will learn to think like a printing professional and get feedback like you haven’t before. Loren will go over your image with a fine-toothed comb helping you to maximize printing. Is there a highlight that needs to be knocked down or a mid-tone that is a bit muddled? Should you lighten one shadow while darkening another? Is there an area that needs more sharpening than others? Does skin need less texture or a slight color adjustment? Of course, these will be suggestions, how you want your photo to look is up to you but with Loren’s extensive printing experience your photo will look its best.

Not only will you learn how to maximize your photo, you’ll get a museum quality 24”X36” print of your photo, a value worth up to $120, that you’ll be thrilled to frame.

The first two parts of the class will be done as a small group, with a maximum of eight participants, so you learn not only what to do with your image but also see how others have their photo developed. Seeing what works for others can be as beneficial as working on your own photo. The last part of the class will be one-on-one time with Loren as you work on your individual image.

At the end you will get a museum quality, archival 24X36” print on semi-gloss or matte rag paper, which is up to a $120 value.

Who should attend:
You should have a general feel for post processing. I'll be using Lightroom and Photoshop but any program will do that allows you to do localized processing. You don't need to be a master at the software, you'll learn how to make your images better no matter your skill level.

The class will be three parts. All sessions will be online using Loren’s Zoom pro account. If you are near Woodstock, VT, we can do the final session in person and make the print right then.

Part 1 (Group - two hours): We’ll start with an overview of quality printing, talking about how inks, papers and printers affect the final print. You’ll learn about monitor adjustments, gamut, color ranges and what makes a good print. Then we look at images you have submitted and determine if you selected the right shot. We’ll discuss the main photo you selected and see how it will print from a technical point of view. If there are glaring issues, we’ll talk about how and if they can be fixed and what the ramifications are. If you have similar shots, we’ll look at them and see which image is best. You’ll get input from Loren and the group. After the session, if you haven’t already, you’ll process the photo to the way you think it should look and upload it, along with a unedited version, for the next session. This session will be recorded so you can revisit it anytime.

Part 2 (Group - two hours): Markup the photo. Loren will use his virtual grease pencil to literally mark up your photo and note what development changes need to be made. He’ll highlight changes to specific areas as well as overall adjustments all the while telling you his thoughts about what needs to be accentuated and what needs to be diminished or removed. If you disagree with Loren, that’s fine, remember this is your photo and it should look the way you want and you’ll have plenty of input. This session will be recorded so you can revisit it anytime.

Part 3 (Individual): You will have up to an hour working directly with Loren to develop your photo in Lightroom or Photoshop. Loren will do the work on his computer that is optimized for outputting to his printer. You and Loren will talk through the suggestions made during the markup as the changes are made. When we are done you’ll have a photo maximized for printing.

Final output: You get a 24”X36” print on archival paper in the mail.
Not every photo is worth the amount of work we will put into “the shot.” Most photos that get posted on the web don’t necessarily need to be processed this heavily. But when it is going to hang on a wall then it is time for perfection.

Part 1: May 13, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. EST.
Part 2: May 20, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Your individual processing time will be scheduled at your convenience.

Price:
$250, which includes an archival 24X36” print valued at $120.
