DC Power Platform (Virtual): TypeScripting The Heck Out Of Model Driven Forms

Details

On May 9th we'll be joined by superstar Dynamics 365 / Power Platform developer Daryl LaBar (Microsoft MVP) who will be talking all about TypeScript on Model Driven Forms.

Why is TypeScript a big deal and why do you need to be here for it? Microsoft has been doing incredible work putting PowerFx all over the Power Platform, but the big glaring hole is client-side form behavior. Business Rules tried but if you want to do anything non-trivial, you're writing code.

TypeScripting The Heck Out Of Model Driven Forms
The benefits of early bound typing in coding have been known and enjoyed by C# developers for decades. TypeScript extends these same typing advantages to JavaScript but understanding how to set it up for Dataverse projects can be a difficult task. This session will walk through the steps involved to getting TypeScript working, building, and testing for forms in Model Driven app.

Key Takeaways:

  • How to generate typed form definitions and queries with XrmDefinetlyTyped.
  • How to setup a project to utilize NPM and WebPack to build and test typescript.
  • How to define tests for forms using XrmMock.
  • How to deploy TypeScript files to allow for easier debugging.
