GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Just a rock n'roll show in a bar. No cover charge. Free music. Real music from very cool bands who write their own songs! In a real bar that is open late (you can drink til 3!). No Grateful Dead or Tom Petty covers. Guaranteed non-dorky event.
Music starts around 9:30. But come early. Stay late. The food is great. Eat. Drink. I'll be a hot mess and doing a bazillion things - but I will hang with you too to the best of my ability!!
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING (MEETUP SAYS TO INCLUDE THIS!):
- a spatula
- protective headgear
THE BANDS:
SMEAR CAMPAIGN’s Billy Black writes clever and catchy pop songs that may reminds me of much of early 80s new wave and postpunk, mainly the Jesus and Mary Chain. https://app.boombox.io/app/playlists/cZG2l1M6RApMYmkqx
David McEwan of SKELP, a prolific singer-songwriter originally from Scotland, writes and performs punkish pop songs that, to me, channel Joe Strummer, Paul Weller and the Kinks. A prolific catalog of great songs. https://skelp.bandcamp.com/
MACH ZERO are some young dudes who bring the old school punk vibe. Instead of watching some fat dads cover Green Day songs, come see MACH ZERO, who should be the *next* Green Day!
The lovely MISS MONICA is a guitarist/singer/songwriter who will perform a few selections, solo (but NOT acoustic), to get the evening started.
