Our "The Black Swan" and More... is the next in our series of art nude photography workshops featuring Alex Balletina, visiting from New York City. (PLEASE NOTE TO RSVP you must go to EVENTBRITE)

Alex is a professional dancer from the West Coast (San Francisco Opera), who relocated to New York to perform at the Metropolitan Opera. Always enthusiastic and full of energy, we will explore Alex's artistic and creative expression in this workshop inspired by the film "The Black Swan."

In the first part of the workshop, Alex through dance and with props (tutus, masks) will portray the transformation of the Swan Queen... "The mystique of the Swan Queen is the ballerina’s dual role of Odette/Odile, or White Swan/Black Swan, demanding technical mastery and emotional range to morph from vulnerable and pure Odette to audacious and deceptive Odile. Thematically, these polar-opposites symbolize a battle between good and evil. Choreographically, they also contrast. Odette is fluid and ethereal with the delicate carriage and rippling swan arms that are a signature of the ballet. Odile is virtuosic, demanding attention with a series of heart-pumping jumps and turns." (Paraphrased from the Pittsburgh Ballet)

A second part of the workshop will feature Alex's jazz dance background, inspired by the choreography of Bob Fosse, and some of his classic pieces such as "Sweet Charity" and "All That Jazz."

We will use white and black backgrounds, strobe lighting and of course appropriate wardrobe to create a unique fine art nude photography experience!

The venue is Cattail Studio, located on the Chesapeake Bay, a 50 minute drive from Washington D.C. or Baltimore. Lighting sources will be both natural, and with studio lights.

An opportunity for each photographer to photograph Alex and make creative images drawing on her artistry, expression and use of her body! By the end of the workshop, you will have have a set of images of an outstanding dancer and art nude model.

Workshop Fee: $225 (includes Model Release and use of Pocket Wizard)

Workshop Participation: Participation in the workshop is limited to 6 photographers. One on One on One sessions will be available with Alex after the workshop.

Cancellation/No Show Policy: Payment of the $75 Deposit is to hold your space. However, if you cancel within 7 days of the workshop, or are a no show, you will be billed for the balance of the workshop fee. We must establish policy because of our financial obligations to our models and studio expenses.
