Full Moon + Post Card View of DC

Bring your tripods and watch the full moon rise during twilight over the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Capitol, and the Potomac River.

Howl at the moon and dance under the stars!

We'll MEET at the US Marine Corps Memorial, then walk over to our photo spot once everyone has arrived.

Hone your photography skills and build your aesthetic eye. Experiment with wide shots, close-ups, abstract images, depth of field, and more! There's something for everyone - whether you use a fancy DSLR or snap away with your iPhone. Rachel will be available the whole time to help and answer any questions.

Even if it's cloudy and we can't see the moon, you'll still get great photos of the iconic DC cityscape and practice your nighttime landscape photography. You may also attend the next full moon event at a heavily discounted rate if this happens.

BRING:

• Telephoto zoom lens.
  Any standard zoom lens will work, but if you have a telephoto lens, definitely bring it! You can also rent a telephoto lens on borrowlenses.com for the weekend. The featured photo was taken with a standard 100-300 zoom lens and a tripod.

• Tripod.

• Bug spray.

NOTES:

*Even if it's too cloudy to see the full moon, we will still get great views of sunset over DC (like the above photo!).

** THE MOON RISES QUICKLY!! If you are not on time YOU WILL MISS IT! However if you miss the moonrise, you will still get beautiful sunset DC postcard shots!

Remember we will need some time to set up our cameras & tripods (especially those who want my advice for settings and lenses).

*** Please do not use a big flashlight during the event to look at your camera buttons. There are usually other photographers taking photos in the area, and flashlights interfere with their work. Please be respectful to others and only use your cell phone flashlight if needed to look at your camera buttons.
