Iron Peak/ Teanaway Peak (Hard)

Details
Come out and hike to Iron Peak and maybe scramble Teanaway Peak!
Distance: 7 miles
Elevation Gain: 3,400 ft.
Difficulty: Hard
This short trail gets you two peaks for the price of one. We will begin by ascending up moderately steep, forested slopes to Eldorado Pass. From there, one can turn to the south and head along an easy trail to Iron Peak, enjoying the open scenery with views in every direction, including Mount Stuart and the Enchantments. To the north, is Teanaway Peak and not much trail at all. This part will be a scramble (up to Class 3) to the top and will require a bit of off-trail route finding to work our way up. Our reward is a slightly higher peak, a slightly better view, and a feeling of accomplishment.
People are welcome to come for just Iron Peak, but be aware that you may have to wait 1-2 hours while others climb and descend Teanaway Peak.

Trip reports suggest there is still a small amount of snow near the top, so bring microspikes just in case, and trekking poles are likely to be useful. Bring plenty of food and water, and be sure to bring a jacket. There is no shade near the top, so don’t forget the sunscreen.
Loose rock is common on Teanaway Peak! A helmet is required if you want to do the scramble!
Riders should give $25 to their drivers for gas. Bring a plastic bag to place your boots in after the hike. An America the Beautiful Pass or Northwest Forest Pass is necessary to park at the trailhead.
