Bryant Peak, when accessed from Melakwa Lake, involves a Class 3 scramble on the summit block. The approach from Melakwa Lake involves a traverse across the SW side of Bryant Peak, followed by a short scramble up the rocky summit block. While some sections can be Class 2, there are also reasonably well-protected Class 3 sections. There may be potential of some bush wacking as well.

Those with adventurous souls can tag Hemlock Peak as well if you so dare. The scramble from Bryant Peak to Hemlock Peak is generally considered Class 3, involving some exposed climbing with potential for loose rock. While the direct route from Bryant Peak to Hemlock Pass can be Class 3, the final ascent to Hemlock Peak often involves a short section of Class 4 scrambling.

If that’s not enough for you, there is also a Traditional Alpine Lake Peak, “Low Mountain” that you can tag on the way back to the trailhead!

Those of you who wish to not participate in the scramble can either come up as far as you feel comfortable, or you can enjoy the day at the lake!

Gear: Helmet, bug spray, sunscreen, trekking poles, GPS, 2-3L of water, lunch/snacks, and a good attitude.

By signing the RSVP, you are agreeing that you are responsible for your own safety. Everyone will be put onto the waitlist until we get more drivers. Drivers will get accepted first!
